Daybreak in Canyonlands

Daybreak in Canyonlands

Island in the Sky District of the Colorado river near Moab, Utah reveals another day about 5 am May 10, 2013. Near Dead Horse Point, a BLM campground picks up the slack when the national park fills. I saw a broad-tailed hummingbird, pinon jays, MacGillivray’s warbler, blue gray gnatcatchers, mountain bluebird, 2 green-tailed towhees, black-throated sparrows, the gray-headed junco and red-tail hawks, among the Mormon tea, juniper and black brush. Took a six mile walk into Mineral Bottoms to a butte and back. First visit to this area since 1991.
